Abstract

Pseudo-membranous trigonitis is a change which may be observed in the mucosa overlying the trigone in patients with the urethral syndrome (Henry and Fox 1971) but is also seen within the bladder of normal asymptomatic women (i.e. women cystoscoped for reasons unrelated to the lower urinary tract). The relationship of this anatomical variant to symptom complexes arising from the lower urinary tract thus remains a matter for debate (Davies and Hunt 1981).
