Abstract

The natural history of ruptured and unruptured aneurysms must be clearly understood to evaluate rationally the surgical management of ruptured intracranial aneurysms. The clinical course of the untreated cases and the factors which influence the prognosis in patients with SAH must be clearly defined, so that the risks of mortality and morbidity implied in the treatment can be fully assessed against the risk of subsequent haemorrhage.
