Abstract
ActiveX largely replaces custom controls and OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) in version 4. In version 4 of Visual Basic you could add OCX custom controls to your application, but you had to create them using an environment such as Visual C++. One of the key new features in version 5 is the ability to create new ActiveX controls. These controls are sometimes called custom controls.
