Abstract

This chapter attempts a specification of the functionality of clocks, with the intention of using it as a vehicle for a discussion of proofs in Chapter 6. It is an interesting case study, especially as it highlights the effectiveness of mathematics in unravelling intricacies which we otherwise hardly notice.
