The popular description of a neck injury usually relates to an external trauma of the neck such as a stab wound or a gunshot injury. It is only in the past few years that the concept has expanded to include iatrogenic injuries from diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Many of these, in the neck, now occur during interventional radiology.
