Abstract

This paper summarises the algorithm of selection of cutting tool/toolholder system for turning operations by using ‘Cutting Tools’ database with ‘Microsoft Access Professional 97’ software. A database, called Cutting Tools, is created for easy data entrance, access and for the selection of turning cutting parameters. Access Basic Modules are developed as interface programs between the database and the prepared forms. The cutting tool/toolholder systems and grades given in Sandvik Coromant Turning Tools Catalogue are used in the database. The database only includes the information about General Turning Operations, i.e. external and internal turning.
