Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a model that can be used in conjunction with scenario analysis to evaluate the strategies that are available to assist general practitioners in reducing smoking among their patients. The scenario analysis involves a four-step procedure for identifying opportunities for detection, intervention and efficacy and assigning probabilities to outcomes, so that a range of prevention strategies can be examined both in isolation and in combination.
