NURBS Volume for Modelling Complex Objects

Abstract

Geometric modelling of objects is one of the main research issues in computer graphics. 3D solid objects are traditionally represented by their surface boundaries. To construct free-form boundaries, Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) curves and surfaces are widely used in various modelling systems. NURBS has become the de facto industry standard for the representation, design and data exchange of geometric information processed by computers. Its excellent mathematical and algorithmic properties, combined with successful industrial applications, have contributed to the enormous popularity of NURBS.
