Abstract
Rare tumors of the lung encompass a large variety of benign and malignant lesions that can be understood as those that do not usually came under the heading bronchogenic carcinoma, i.e., small cell, large cell, squamous cell, and adenocarcinoma. Some of these conditions are very rare but other are simply uncommon. From a clinical and therapeutic point of view, we consider in this chapter the neoplastic conditions of the lung that are not usually described as nonsmall-cell or small-cell bronchogenic carcinomas. We use classification according to the type of cells from which they are derived So, neuroendocrine tumors, tumors of the tracheobronchial glands, epithelial tumors, lymphoproliferative disorders, mesenchymal neoplasms, tumors of uncertain histogenesis and lesions of uncertain neoplastic origin will be considered sequentially.
