Abstract
Pelvic organ prolapse is a common problem and may occur to some degree in 50% of parous women. An estimated 10–20% of these women will have symptomatic prolapse and present for repair. Despite the relatively common nature of this problem we know little about the natural history of the disease when left untreated. Although operations are commonly performed to treat the problem, long-term outcome data is lacking.
