Modern information retrieval and research into complex negotiations pioneered the application of agent-mediated architectures (Maglio and Barrett 1997, 6ff.; Tu et al. 1999). By further increasing system flexibility, digital agents promise to radically change the inherent characteristics of doing business electronically.
