Abstract
We have noted earlier the difference between text files and files normally generated by a word processor. The former contain just text, plus the carriage returns and tab characters, while the latter contain all kinds of formatting commands. So, although you can edit text files in a word processor, and we shall see how you do that, you do not actually need a word processor to edit them.
