Abstract
The objective of this Chapter is to gain an understanding of the relatively new technology of Virtual Instrumentation (VIs). The concepts of VIs are introduced and the National Instruments Software Package, LabVIEW is used to demonstrate the basic features. A design exercise based on a Wastewater treatment is used to present design aspects of VIs and SCADA systems.
