Abstract
In this chapter we are going to describe some of the more scientific aspects of speech recognition. These topics describe a broader aspect than just the products that are selling now. These subjects have been presented in a manner that, I hope, can be understood by the non-technical reader. The topics are as follows:
-
1
Major design questions facing speech recognition engineers
-
2
Microphone technology
-
3
Sound card technology
-
4
Database searching and template matching
-
5
Speech recognition using neural networks
-
6
The use of artificial intelligence in speech systems
