Inheritance, in C++, is the ability of a class to inherit the features of one or more other classes. It is exactly this ability of derivingfrom an existing class or classes which makes inheritance such an important feature in the C++ language, not only from the point of view of object-oriented programming, but also in the design and development of reusable code. Similar classes with inherent relationships can be placed into class hierarchies to assist in the conceptualisation and organisation of program code.
