Abstract
The shortest days are now past and the nights will start to lengthen but most people will not notice it for a few weeks yet. In the meantime, the meridian is dominated by the Milky Way crossing the sky and the constellations of Lyra, Cygnus, Sagitta, Aquila, Scutum and Sagittarius. Definitely a bumper month.
