You’d think that after the substantial investment in money you’ve made in a new Schmidt-Cassegrain you’d have everything required to begin a rewarding observing program. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Because of the need to keep the prices of CATs as low as possible, telescope manufacturers have really cut back on included accessories in recent times. Today, the standard SCT doesn’t come with much more than a single eyepiece (often of modest quality) and a 1.25 inch star diagonal. You’ll quickly find there’s some additional buying to do. And there are a fair number of extras that are vital for getting the most out of your telescope.
