Abstract

If you save object information without serialization, then you can only save the ASCII version of the data held by the object. You need to reconstruct the data into objects when you read the text file, which means that you have to indicate that certain data is associated with certain objects and that certain objects are related. This is very time-consuming and error-prone. It is also very unlikely that the ASCII data written out by someone else is in the right format for your system.
