Abstract

Various of noise sources in CMOS technology are introduced in this chapter, including KT/C noise, flicker noise, resistor and MOSFET’s thermal noise, etc. In order to decrease or even get rid of the noise especially the lower frequency noise, different kinds of low noise amplifiers are described. Then a design example is introduced. It consumes 100uA current while amplifying the signal by 16 times and realizing 20nV/sqrtHz input referred noise. It’s integrated in energy metering chips and millions of this chip have been used in energy smart meters.
