Antioxidant Activity of Capsicum annuum L. Fruit Extracts on Acetaminophen Toxicity
Parasetamol is very safe drug when used in therapeutic doses, it is known to cause lipid peroxidation and hepatotoxicity after overdose 1,2. Its toxicity has been attributed to the cytochrome P-450 catalyzed formation of a highyl reactive metabolic species, the N-acetyl-p-benzoqoinone imine, which is thought to bind covalently to protein in vivo. Paracetamol-induced lipid peroxidation (LPO) was inhibited by antioxidants such as vitamin E and vitamin C1.
