Abstract
You are currently reading the third edition of Diagnosis and Treatment Planning in Counseling. The first edition was published in 1986; the second, in 1996. Each of those earlier editions included a final chapter that made predictions for the future of the counseling profession. Many of those predictions have been realized while others have not. The final chapter of this book will look at those earlier predictions and discuss which ones came true, which did not, and what we can learn from that about the direction of the field. In addition, new predictions for the future of counseling are included in this book, organized according to the 12 preceding chapters.
