Abstract

With the development of multimedia technology in Ad Hoc network, an increasing number of researchers attach great importance to the Quality of Service (QoS) routing protocol. Over the last 10 years, lot of research work on QoS routing has been brought forward. Based on the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR), a novel modified QoS routing protocol (DSR-QoS) is proposed in this chapter. Differing from other methods, this protocol takes into account both network delay and bandwidth as the QoS constraints. Firstly, the calculation method of bandwidth and delay is described, and then route discovery and maintenance are discussed. The simulation approach based on the OPNET is presented. After the network simulation, comparing with DSR, the network throughput of DSR-QoS is enhanced effectively and the route discovery time and the network delay are lowered. The modified protocol optimizes the network performance.
