Abstract
This site lies on a sand and gravel ridge connected to the solid shore approximately 200 meters west-southwest of Henauhof Nordwest During periods of low water this ridge would have been a corridor of dry ground surrounded on three sides by marsh, and with higher water it would have been a narrow spit jutting out into open water. The site was discovered by test trenches in 1987, at the suggestion of the landowner, who knew about the solid ridge in the midst of the spongy ground of his field. Excavations carried out in 1989 investigated a total of 83 square meters in a large contiguous block together with a few dispersed trenches.
