Abstract
Cylindrical circle planes (of rank 3) behave very similarly to the spherical circle planes that we just considered and the toroidal circle planes that we are going to consider in the next chapter. Still, in some respects they are more complicated geometries, since we have to start worrying about different points being parallel. On the other hand, they have a much simpler structure, since the circle set of a cylindrical circle plane can be described in terms of continuous periodic functions. Also, the cylindrical circle planes are the only ones among the rank 3 circle planes that have natural higher- rank counterparts.
