The panoply of problems that generation faces, the great impact they have—and will have—on human affairs, the likelihood that some may not be adequately resolved and that great sorrow will therefore be inflicted on our descendants raises deeply troubling questions. What should thoughtful people do? Are there means to brighten future prospects in the face of such human myopia and stubbornness?
