Leda was the beautiful daughter of Thestius and Eurythemis, the king and queen of Aeotolia, a region of northwestern Greece. After King Tyndareus was deposed and expelled from Lacedaemon, he took refuge at the court of his friend Thestius. Eventually, Tyndareus wooed and wed Leda.
