An Essential Activity

Abstract

Reproduction is an essential activity. Without reproduction by individuals entire species would soon disappear. They will become extinct and cease to exist. Reproduction is a consuming fact of life. Perhaps it is more accurate to say that initiation of reproduction, the sexual act, is consuming for bisexual animals and the rest follows naturally. We are all mortal: birds, bees, flowers, and us. Every creature that has ever existed has a lifespan typical for its species. To keep the system in balance, death must be as common as birth. That is a problem for the Earth today. We are out of balance, humans have overloaded the planet’s ecosystem. We need to slow down, move out, away, and get a fresh start.
