Abstract

This chapter reviews the most common neoplasms, tumor-like lesions, and the nonneoplastic lesions of the ovaries and pelvic peritoneum in relation to the clinical, gross, and microscopic features that are vital for their diagnosis. The most critical associations with genetic syndromes and clinical risk factors are discussed. Emphasis is given to several potential mimics of malignancies and diagnostic pitfalls. Immunohistochemistry and other special studies that areimportant to establish a diagnosis or exclude histologically similar conditions are also discussed.
