Epidemiology of Hip and Pelvis Injury
Injuries to the hip and pelvis are common among both athletes and the general population. The incidence and etiology of hip and pelvis injury vary depending on patients’ age, gender, and the sport in which they participate. Hip and pelvis injury and pain are most common in adolescents and older adults. Explosive and contact sports carry the highest risk of hip and pelvis injury. Women are twice as likely to suffer from hip pain as men.
