Abstract
This is the ninth edition of this book where I have served as the editor of the “Trends” section and the first where I have enlisted a coauthor. I have used a variety of strategies for organizing this part. For this year, we sent an invitation to one or more individuals from our top 10 list that was created based on the number of publications in the Educational Technology Research and Development Journal and the Journal for the Learning Sciences. Unfortunately, we were unable to get chapters from the University of Wisconsin, the State University of New York-Buffalo, the University of New Mexico, and the University of Hong Kong. We did get a chapter from each of the other 6 top 10 schools.
