Abstract
Infiltrative and typically benign tumor of peripheral nerves that can occur as a solitary or diffuse mass in the subcutis, soft tissue, or along peripheral nerves. The tumor is believed to consist of a mixture of cell types including schwann cells, perineurial cells, and fibroblasts. Neurofibromas are considered WHO Grade I neoplasms. Some neurofibromas, especially plexiform neurofibromas, often occur in the setting of neurofibromatosis-1 (NF1).
