An early design and its construction

Abstract

The first structures placed on the Moon for human habitation were prefabricated cylindrical modules. These were placed on the lunar surface and shielded using regolith. That is how we lived on the Moon for decades. Even though quarters were cramped, the first inhabitants could hardly believe their senses that they were on the Moon for an extended stay. Nothing else mattered. In 2029, five years after the 2024 manned return to the Moon, a facility that looked like an igloo was erected that became a habitat for permanent settlement. It was somewhat larger than the cylinders. But the real improvements were the friendlier interiors. With time the initial igloo was expanded and within twenty years we had a small city on the Moon. At the same time, other settlements were planted.
