Thermodynamics of Corrosion: Electrochemical Cells and Galvanic Corrosion

  • E. McCafferty
Chapter

Abstract

The previous chapter has dealt largely with the corrosion thermodynamics of half-cell reactions for single metals. This chapter considers the effect of coupling two half-cells to form an electrochemical cell. The galvanic corrosion of coupled dissimilar metals is also treated in this chapter.
