Abstract
In this chapter, you will learn about some of the more advanced aspects of CouchDB. First, you will see how a CouchDB database can be replicated—to another database on the local CouchDB server and to a database on a remote CouchDB instance. Then, you’ll learn about database compaction and how it reduces the size of the database file, as well as its impact on previous revisions of documents. Next, you will learn how to fetch and write documents from and to the database in bulk. Finally, you will see how show functions allow you to represent CouchDB data in different formats.
