Abstract
What do Knight Rider’s KITT and Battlestar Galactica’s Cylons have in common? That’s right: undeniably awesome scanning LEDs (light-emitting diodes)! Now that we’re set up, we’ll recreate this on our development board. We’ll go through the steps pretty quickly and then go back and take a look at how we got there in more detail. At this point we’re still unfamiliar with the development environment, so the mechanics of each step are covered here. Don’t worry, though, you only have to learn to do this stuff once, and I won’t be telling you which button to click in every project. The basic steps are writing the code, simulating it to check that it does what we expect, and loading it on to the FPGA board.
