An Exadata system, by default, pre-allocates the bulk of the physical storage between the +DATA_MYEXA1 and +RECO_MYEXA1 disk groups and does so using an 80/20 split. During the preinstallation phase of purchase, Oracle supplies a worksheet to the DBAs, the network administrators, and the system administrators. Each group supplies information for the configuration process, with the DBAs and the network admins providing the bulk of that data. Once the worksheet is completed, discussions are held to clarify any ambiguous settings and to determine how the storage will be divided. It may not be apparent that the default settings need to be adjusted, so the system is configured with the standard 80/20 allocations. A third disk group, DBFS_DG, is also provided with approximately 32GB of space, and this disk group does not change in size.
