Sessions and Cookies

Many people argue that the use of Session variables and cookies in web applications is unnecessary. Any functionality provided by these items can just as easily be provided by database interactions or by utilizing Querystrings. This is true for the most part, but there are circumstances where using a Session variable or a cookie makes perfect sense, or indeed, is the only real option.
