Abstract

We all know that first impressions count for a great deal, and that’s a fact we can’t afford to ignore in our web designs. There’s no point in creating the slickest, most usable Flash site in the history of Flash sites if your target audience gives up before they’ve even seen the main screen. Whether it?s because the client insisted on a long intro movie, or because the target audience gets easily freaked out by unexpected things happening in their browser, you need to think carefully about those first few seconds after users click on a link to your site. What will they see? What will they hear? Is it likely to make them reach for the power button?
