Abstract

This chapter is about using sound to enhance your Flash movies, a feature that will really start to open up the world of Flash multimedia in your designs. Multimedia web sites, in HTML for example, have usually separated the sound content from the rest of the site. However, the introduction of sound in previous versions of Flash has dramatically improved the overall user experience. Clever use of music and sounds in your designs allows for a high degree of interactivity and usability, and at the very least goes towards producing a pleasant atmosphere within your site. With Macromedia Flash MX we can now begin to push the limits of using sound in our web sites, from streaming sound in parallel with video, to actually sequencing and mixing completely new pieces of music online.
