The goal of Bumpbot is to drive around randomly without getting I stuck against a wall or in a corner. To accomplish this, Bumpbot needs some way of detecting a collision with an obstacle. This can be achieved by adding a “bumper” to the basic Tankbot chassis. This chapter presents two different versions of Bumpbot, each with its own bumper design.
