You can arguably consider all of the techniques within this book to be business related. This largely depends on the type of work you do and the nature of your clients. However, the topics within this chapter tend to be more “businesslike,” whereas the others seem to fall into a more artistic category. Make no mistake though; creating graphs, maps, and technical illustrations can take just as much skill as any of the other effects portrayed throughout this book. As you complete the following exercises, you may begin to view Illustrator in a different way. However, whether you’re creating a retro-style background pattern for your personal website or a technical illustration for a client, you’ll see that the techniques used are all similar. Everything builds upon the basic foundation of drawing and manipulating paths and working with color. The final output may change but the way you get there doesn’t.
