Abstract

One of the key problems that many people experienced with previous versions of Flash was the difficulty in updating a site’s content. You could update text using the loadVariables command, but images always needed to be embedded within the Flash SWF. Once you’d made the final Flash movie, the only way to update the embedded images at a later date was to reopen the FLA and edit them there, unless you were using Macromedia Generator and a complex database setup. This lengthy process would cost the client money, and also meant learning how to use Generator and set up a database, which isn’t especially ideal.
