My grandfather was a landscape photographer, and he introduced me to the magic of seeing an image form out of nothing on a blank sheet of paper. I think that I became the designer I am as a result of carrying his heavy camera bag around for him He’d spend so tong composing a photograph that the two of us would become a part of the scene, we felt like we belonged there. This comes through in his work, too: when you look at his photographs, you also feet you belong there. Of course, I was just grateful for the rest — I didn’t realize until much later that this was an important part of the creative process! Now it’s something that I hope comes through in my design too.
