You don’t have to be a leader to lead. You just have to want something better and be dedicated to bringing that vision to life. Whether you’re a trained executive or manager of many years or a frontline worker who’s never had any desire to hold authority, you will nonetheless inspire others and lead simply by the example you set. That’s the only kind of leadership that truly matters. Of course, when you dare to stand up and be seen working for a better tomorrow, like it or not, you become a leader. However, it is far better to perform the duties and have the title assigned to you afterward than it is to follow the path that so many have taken in their careers of lobbying to get themselves assigned to a position of authority without having first demonstrated the ability to lead.
