Heading back to Fort Wayne, I reflect on my weekend with John. I’m not sure that was the best way to spend my time. Enduring my parents’ friends in their ridiculous Hawaiian shirts—in the fall at that—had tested my patience, especially in my current frame of mind. I still feel guilty about complaining to my parents as if I were a seventh grader. On top of that, Dad basically trapped me into hanging out with John. I really had wanted to talk to Dad. I know John’s an old family friend, but it’s not really his business.
