After defining capacity management and looking at various key aspects on capacity management in  Chapter 6, this chapter explains how capacity management is performed for new services and what capacity requirements must be gathered for subsequent capacity design. Various procedures have been defined, enabling service providers to determine capacity requirements for new services. These procedures include gathering capacity requirements through demand anticipation, identification of vital business functions, understanding cost implications, gathering performance related requirements, etc. Emphasis has been given on specifying multi-vendor service level agreements (SLAs), operational level agreements (OLAs), and Underpinning Contracts (UCs) so that capacity requirements are met as specified.
