Many kinds of video games that you’ll want to make are maze games. These are games where a player has to navigate an environment with walls and obstacles to find useful items and evade enemies. In this chapter I’m going to show you all the basics you need to know to start making maze games of your own. You’ll learn all the classic design techniques, and we’ll look at two complete demo games: Time Bomb Panic and Monster Mayhem. Figure 10-1 shows what those finished games look like. You’ll find them in the chapter’s source files.
