XAML Controls in the Visual Studio Toolbox: Other Controls

  • Kyle Burns

Any craftsperson has their “go-to” tools that are used daily within their profession. Additionally, they maintain a toolbox full of additional tools to ensure that when the situation calls for something beyond what is used every day, they will have just what is needed. You have already seen the “daily use” tools, and in this chapter, you will learn about the rest of the controls that come in the Visual Studio Toolbox. The controls you will encounter in this Chapter vary widely in use and complexity, so for some I will go deeper than other. For most controls, I will cover the following:
  • The purpose of the control

  • Common usage scenarios

  • Important properties and methods of the control

  • The XAML used to add the control to a page
