Abstract
One of the key design goals of Windows applications is to create a completely immersive experience for end users, one where for the time they are using your application, it remains the center of their world. One way that this is achieved is by following the “Win as One” design principle and by building applications where the user moves seamlessly between your application and the operating system. In this chapter, I will cover contracts that can be exposed by Windows applications to allow the application to extend the functionality of Windows 8 and become a fully participating member of an ecosystem of applications.
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. —Andrew Carnegie
