Edge Animate and the Web

Abstract

Today’s modern Web is vastly different from the Web we grew up with. In many respects, this change came about as the Web became “untethered.” The ubiquitous ethernet cable plugged into the computer processing unit or a laptop is rapidly disappearing. Surveys are showing that the monitor on your desk is no longer the primary web-viewing medium. Tablets, smartphones, “phablets”—hybrids of tablets and phones—are now the devices of choice in an increasingly mobile web universe. Even the way web pages are designed has undergone a profound change. No longer does the metaphor of a paper page apply as web pages shrink, expand, and shift their design in response to the screen real estate available on the device displaying the content.
